BlueCanvas / LAAFA Scholarship Contest 2013

BlueCanvas and the Los Angeles Academy of Figurative Art is holding a contest to win art scholarships.

The Prize(s)
1st Place: $10,000 Scholarship towards LAAFA’s entertainment art degree or certificate program
2nd Place: $6,000 Scholarship towards LAAFA’s entertainment art degree or certificate program
3rd Place: 10-week in-class or online scholarship for LAAFA’s extension program

Scholarships have no cash value.

Submission Requirements:
10 images (5 traditional 2D artworks and 5 2D or 3D digital artworks)
and a 500-word essay to
Subject Line: LAAFA/Bluecanvas. Incomplete submissions will not be considered.
The deadline for submissions is July 31, 2013

Each applicant must submit five different traditional two-dimensional artwork pieces and five different two-dimensional or three-dimensional digital artwork pieces. Images of work should be in JPEG format and the sizes should be as close to 800×1200 pixels and 72 DPI, and emailed as an attached zip file with the applicant’s first and last name. Be sure to make the JPEG image large enough to show your entire piece (do not crop your artwork). Each JPEG must be labeled with a number and the artist’s name. You must also include a list of portfolio works with your submission. Include numbers corresponding to the images submitted, as well as title of work, descriptions of piece, concept and/or subject matter, size, medium, and completion date. Submissions are limited to original artwork only, completed within one year of the entry date. No Master copies allowed.

Applicants must include a 500-word essay explaining their ultimate career goals as an artist and how they would use the LAAFA education to further their goals.
