Cool 3-D Murals by Janet Shearer

Janet Shearer, 56, produces beautiful murals known as ‘trompe l’oeil’ – trick of the eye – to give the dullest of rooms a breathtaking vista. Each work is painstakingly created over weeks and sometimes months using tiny brushes to give the artificial view a startlingly realistic appearance. Janet’s murals includes stunning sea views, beautiful horizons, white sands, crashing waves, rolling countryside, city scapes, rooftops and sports matches.
‘The effect draws the eye through and there have been times when even I have been fooled by something I’ve painted. It sounds bizarre but sometimes I have had to take a second look at what I’ve done, because momentarily it has caught me out. People spend a fortune in their bathrooms on expensive Italian tiles, and for around the same cost they could have a personalized work of art in their home.’

She plans the work in her studio and some of the murals are painted straight onto the walls and others created on boards and pinned up.
