Photographer Launches Graphic Design Magazine, ‘Portraits of Design’

Top photographer John Madere has crossed into the world of graphic design. He is teaming up with Mohawk Fine Paper and Decker Design and has launched a print magazine titled: Portraits of Design, featuring legends in the world of design.

Milton Glaser is on the cover of the first issue, which also has Stefan Sagmeister, Michael Bierut and Massimo Vignelli within its pages.

Portraits of Design will be, unsurprisingly, image-heavy. Portraits of designers are interspersed with anecdotes of the photo session, including Vignelli’s camera prototype and Chip Kidd’s collection of Batman memorabilia.

Madere’s interest in graphic design comes from his experience in working with them. And because designers have previously brought his photographers “to life in print”, Madere has now returned the favor.
