World Press Cartoon 2013 contest aims to distinguish, showcase, promote and award the best drawings or illustrations with what happened in the world this past year. There are 3 main categories for the entries: Editorial Cartoon, Caricature and Gag Cartoon.

Cartoonists are only allowed to submit one entry in each of the three categories to the competition. The artwork dimensions cannot exceed the European standard A3: 420 x 297 mm.

Entry Fee:
There is no entry fee.

Eligibility:
It is an essential pre-requisite for eligibility that the submitted works were originally published or printed between January 1 and December 31, 2012 in any publications like newspapers or magazines, which are published on a regular basis and on sale to the public.

Prizes:
• 1st Prize: EUR 3,000 (approx. 3,900 USD)
• 2nd Prize: EUR 2,000 (approx. 2,600 USD)
• 3rd Prize: EUR 1,000 (approx. 1,300 USD)

the World Press Cartoon will award the best work chosen from all the entries in the competition a Grand Prix of EUR 10,000 (approx. 13,000 USD).

All the major prizes will also include a diploma and a trophy.

The Jury may also select other works that they see fit for the distinction of Honourable Mention, which will be awarded with a medal and authenticated by a diploma.

The newspaper or magazine that published the prize-winning works will also receive a diploma in recognition of the World Press Cartoon award.

And every artist whose work is selected to appear in the exhibition will receive a certificate of participation.

The announcement of winners will be held at Sintra Museu de Arte Moderna – Olga Cadaval Cultural Centre, in Sintra, Portugal in the spring of 2013.
